Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

The Strong's Concordance
What is a Strong's Number Tag?
-
This is a Strong's Number Tag: H410
-
What this does is point toward a reference within the Strong's Concordance, which is a reference tool for reversing a translation, that is, to see what word is behind the English translation and to see the word's original language. A concordance is a resource which shows the original word that was used in it's original language, including all the possible meanings of that word.
-
There are two different tags, "H" tags and "G" tags. These correlate to Hebrew and Greek, respectively. An example would be "Adam [H121]" from Genesis 2:21. This is saying Adam equals H121 within the Strong's concordance. The number represents the actual word; every word in the King James Bible has been cataloged with a number.
-
If you look up H121 on a Strong's Concordance program, you would find something similar to this:
-
H121 -- This is the "H" tag.
-
אָדָם -- This is the original Hebrew word.
-
'âdâm -- This is a transliteration into English.
-
aw-dawm' -- This is a pronunciation for English.
-
The same as H120; Adam, the name of the first man, also of a place in Palestine: - Adam. -- This is the description and explanation of the word, including any root words.
-
Total KJV occurrences: 21 -- This is how many times the "H" tag appears in the Old Testament.
-
-
Now, if we go to the New Testament, you will not see "H" tags, but rather, "G" tags. This is because the New Testament was recorded in Koine (this means common) Greek. An example would be "Jesus [G2424]" in John 3:2. This is saying Jesus equals G2424 within the Strong's concordance.
-
If you look up G2424 on a Strong's Concordance program, you would find something similar to this:
-
G2424 -- This is the "G" tag.
-
Ἰησοῦς -- This is the original Greek word.
-
Iēsous -- This is a transliteration into English.
-
ee-ay-sooce' -- This is a pronunciation for English.
-
Of Hebrew origin [H3091]; Jesus (that is, Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites: - Jesus. -- This is the description and explanation of the word, including any root words, Notice that this word has a Hebrew root of H3091.
-
Total KJV occurrences: 975 -- This is how many times the "G" tag appears in the New Testament.
-
-
The actual Strong tag can be looked up on the internet, but having a dedicated Bible app is usually ideal. The app allows the Strong tag to be a button next to every English word, which opens a pop-up when needed.

The Letters From Jesus Christ to the Seven Churches Of Revelation
Who are the Christians in Revelation?
-
Found in Revelation Chapters 2-3
-
These seven Churches are the literal churches of Asia Minor, but they also represent both the spiritual condition of all churches, throughout all of history; and the spiritual condition of individual Christians. They are a spiritual "health check", the letter that speaks to you is where you stand. Each letter also gives the failing church the proper solution to recover themselves from their snare, or the method to continue standing strong for Christ. Each letter ends with the proclamation of Christ, "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the Churches." this means that you will spiritually hear the letter that applies to you.
-

-
This angel is a strong Christian, but he is failing his congregation; he is not rebuking false teachers and they are leaving the Church to join them.

Both the angel and the congregation are standing strong in Christ. This Church receives no rebuke from Jesus Christ, but only a warning; to be careful not to lose what they already possess. This is the Church that does not have to go through the hour of testing (the Great Tribulation).
-
-
Laodicea
-
This angel and the congregation under his care are lukewarm, that is, they are compromising and stand for nothing. Jesus claims that he is outside, knocking on the door, and he will come in if they open the door. This is a Church where Jesus Christ is on the outside.

The Christian's Sabbath
Is The Sabbath To Be Kept By Christians?
-
What is the Sabbath?
-
The Sabbath is the seventh day; the seventh day is Saturday on our Gregorian Calendar. The Sabbath represents the day God rested from creating the Earth and all that is in it, this took six days from inception to completion. It is also known as the day of rest. (Exo_16:23-30, Exo_20:8-11; Exo_31:13-14; Gen_2:3; Lev_19:3, Lev_23:3; Isa_56:4-6)
-
Gen 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. 3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
-
Exo 20:1-21 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: 11 For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. 13 Thou shalt not kill. 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal. 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour's. 18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw [it], they removed, and stood afar off. 19 And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die. 20 And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. 21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God [was].

Is the Sabbath for Christians?
-
There are two different aspects that are being bundled together when making the argument for Sabbath observance, the gathering of Christians, and abstaining from work.
-
Concerning Christian gatherings: The Sabbath was not traditionally used by Christians for gatherings, as New Testament verses show that early Christians met on the Lord's Day. The Lord's Day is Sunday on our calendar. This is the day which Jesus rose from the grave, it is also the day which Jesus revealed the vision of Revelation to John on Patmos. This term is not the same as "The day of the Lord", which means the day Jesus returns to judge the Earth. (Joh_20:19, Joh_20:26; Act_20:7; 1Co_16:2; Rev_1:10)
-
Concerning abstaining from work: The Sabbath was not observed by early Christians, except when under Jewish authority (in Jerusalem) and this was done by Jesus and the Twelve Disciples; who broke the Sabbath as much as they observed it. Jesus and the Disciples did the majority of their ministry and healings on the Sabbath, this was actually the main reasons for the Jewish leaders wanting to kill Jesus. Jesus reveals to us that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. The reason for this change is that the Sabbath was part of the Old Covenant, which was the letter of the law; Christians are under the New Covenant, which is kept by the Spirit of the Lord God who takes up residence within us.
-
-
The Sabbath is part of the Law, if you keep the Sabbath, but ignore the rest of the Law, you are a transgressor of breaking the Law of God. You put yourself back under the entire Law by observing the Sabbath, and now are expected to keep the whole Law, to the letter (as those who follow the Law will live by the Law).
-
Christians keep the Law in Spirit, not in the letter. The Holy Spirit inside of you is changing you into the image of Christ, who is the fulfillment of the law. This means that our rest is not found in a day of the week, but rather it is found in Jesus Christ, who invites us into His rest every day.

Baptism
Does it save?
-
What is baptism?
-
Baptism is a rite of passage into the Church.
-
-
-
-
Types of Baptism:
-
There are two main types of baptism that are normally done by Christians, water baptism and baptism by the Holy Ghost (aka: baptism by fire). I would also like to point out that we baptize for the Godhead, that is for the Father, for Jesus Christ and for the Holy Ghost.
-
Water Baptism:
-
Water baptism is traditionally fulfilled by the pastor, but can be fulfilled by any born-again Christian. The purpose of water baptism is to symbolically "wash away" sin and the old man (going under), and the birth of the new man (coming up). This ritual provides the baptized with a cleared conscience so that there is no sin or transgression weighing down the mind and conscience, so the baptized may come to the throne of God with his prayers and petitions.
-
What this provides is threefold: it gives the baptized tangible and physical evidence of conversion, it gives the Church a testimony and evidence of belief for the baptized, it marks the baptized as a Christian to the world.
-
The cleared conscience and the washing away of sin from being baptized is symbolic; in reality, Jesus Christ does this at the moment of becoming "born-again". The baptism is a public declaration to this hidden reality.
-
-
Baptism by Fire:
-
This is the true baptism, it is fulfilled when the Holy Ghost comes into your heart and turns you right-side up again.
-
This is the greater baptism.
-
-
The Sabbath is part of the Law, if you keep the Sabbath, but ignore the rest of the Law, you are a transgressor of breaking the Law of God.
-
-
What is each Baptism?:
-
John the Baptist's Baptism: This was a precursor to Jesus and was designed to make the path of the Lord straight, and to prepare the hearts of the people for Christ's arrival. It is the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins.
-
Jesus Christ's Baptism: This is the current baptism and is what we think of when we are speaking about water baptism. This covers John's baptism, but also brings the individual into the Church. An interesting note, Jesus never baptized his followers, his disciples baptized.
-
-
The Great Commission:
-
Mat 28:16-20 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.
